About
Jessica is a composer for film and television whose work has received major international recognition, including a BAFTA Award, an HMMA Award and an Emmy nomination. Her most recent work includes scoring the Netflix German spy thriller Unfamiliar, with her music featuring across a wide range of scripted and documentary projects for Netflix, the BBC and Amazon.
Her credits also include the Netflix adaptation of the bestselling novel One Day, the hit documentary series American Nightmare, and The Tinder Swindler, which became the platform’s most-streamed documentary on release, alongside BBC Three’s original drama Red Rose and Fifteen Love for Amazon Prime.
In addition to her scoring work, Jessica is one half of the artist duo Vanbur, alongside composer Tim Morrish. Vanbur’s debut album Of Becoming brings together material written over several years, including Earthing and my dove, to sleep- featured in Netflix’s One Day- alongside tracks from their debut EP Human, such as In Cold Light, which gained significant traction on TikTok. Recorded at Church Studios with a 12-piece ensemble, the album moves between expansive orchestral writing and more intimate, alt-pop-leaning songs.
Jessica studied composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before completing a Master’s in Composing for Film and Television at the National Film and Television School. She enjoys combining larger-scale orchestration with intimate, raw experimentation in her home studio, frequently using her voice alongside upright piano, violin and string-led textures.
